As India rapidly works towards becoming a global leader in artificial intelligence and semiconductor innovation, AMD and the University of Delhi have announced a strategic collaboration. The main objective of this collaboration is to equip the country's next generation of AI talent with the skills required to meet industry needs.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed today, AMD will launch its AI Engage Developer Program at the University of Delhi. Through this initiative, students and faculty will get the opportunity to gain hands-on access to AMD's open-source ROCm™ AI software platform, learning resources and developer GPU cloud credits.
The initiative aims to train up to 10,000 students over the next year. This will enable students to build, test and deploy AI applications using industry-grade tools. Jaya Jagadish, Country Head and SVP Engineering, AMD India, said, “India has the talent and capability to lead the next wave of AI innovation. The need now is to give students early access to the platforms and tools used for real-world AI development.”
Focus on Providing Practical AI Training to 10,000 Students
She said the collaboration with the University of Delhi will help students move beyond learning AI concepts to building AI solutions. It reflects AMD's long-term commitment to strengthening India's AI ecosystem and developing future-ready talent. Through this collaboration, students and faculty will also gain access to AMD's AI learning curriculum, technical workshops, open software ecosystem and cloud-based GPU resources.
The programme will support innovation, research and developer readiness while also contributing to the broader goal of strengthening India's indigenous AI capabilities. Speaking at the programme, Prof. Yogesh Singh, Vice-Chancellor, University of Delhi, said, “We are proud to partner with AMD to advance AI education and innovation in India. This collaboration reflects the industry's growing focus on equipping students with practical AI skills beyond classroom learning.”
He further said that by combining academic education with access to modern AI computing platforms, AMD and the University of Delhi will help create a strong pipeline of AI developers and researchers who can contribute to India's growing digital economy.
