PlanetSpark Accelerates IPO Preparations, Targets ₹800 Crore Revenue and Two Years of Profitability
Edtech company PlanetSpark, which focuses on communication, public speaking and life skills, is now expanding beyond K-12 education into the areas of working professionals and AI-based learning.

The company’s parent entity, Winspark Innovations Learning, has set a target of achieving around ₹800 crore in revenue and maintaining profitability for two consecutive financial years as part of its future IPO roadmap.

PlanetSpark Co-founder Kunal Malik shared details of the company’s roadmap in an interview with PTI in August 2025. The company’s strategy is to first achieve sustainable profitability, maintain profitability for two consecutive years, and then consider a public listing after reaching a revenue scale of around ₹800 crore.

₹800 Crore Revenue Is a Future IPO Milestone

The ₹800 crore figure is not PlanetSpark’s current revenue, but a future target linked to its IPO roadmap. According to Kunal Malik, the company first wants to achieve sustainable profitability. It then plans to remain profitable for two consecutive financial years and move towards an IPO after reaching a revenue level of around ₹800 crore.

This means PlanetSpark’s IPO roadmap has three key milestones achieving sustainable profitability, remaining profitable for two consecutive financial years, and reaching a revenue scale of around ₹800 crore.

FY25 Revenue Rises 18.6% to ₹81.2 Crore

Looking at PlanetSpark’s current financial position, according to available FY25 figures, the company’s parent entity reported ₹81.2 crore in revenue. This was around 18.6% higher than the ₹68.4 crore reported in FY24.

However, the company reported a net loss of around ₹28.8 crore in FY25. Therefore, it would not be accurate to describe ₹800 crore as its current revenue or an already achieved financial target. The figure is a future revenue milestone outlined as part of the company’s IPO roadmap.

Kunal Malik said in August 2025 that the company expected FY26 to be its first fully profitable year and was also targeting continued profitability in FY27.

PlanetSpark’s Journey Began in 2017

PlanetSpark was founded in 2017 by Kunal Malik and Manish Dhooper. The company initially focused on helping children and young learners develop communication, public speaking and other life skills. Over time, PlanetSpark expanded its learning portfolio. Its programmes include public speaking, creative writing, spoken English, communication, personality development, business communication and other skill-based learning programmes.

The company’s core learning model is based on live, personalised 1:1 online classes. For K-12 students, PlanetSpark focuses on skills such as public speaking, storytelling, debating, creative writing and communication.

Expansion from K-12 to Professional Learning

PlanetSpark is now expanding beyond its traditional K-12 segment to offer skill-based learning for working professionals as well. According to Kunal Malik, around 18% of the company’s learners were working professionals in 2025. The company planned to increase this share to 22-23% initially and eventually to around 30%.

As part of this strategy, the company has planned to target professionals with 0-15 years of work experience through Winspark.ai. The segment focuses on communication, leadership, presentation, business communication and other career-oriented skills. The company aims to use technology and AI to provide professionals with a more personalised and effective learning experience.

Strong Presence in Smaller Cities

Non-metro, Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities also play an important role in PlanetSpark’s growth strategy. According to the company, around 80% of its revenue comes from India, while the remaining revenue comes from international markets. The company had also said that around half of its traction comes from non-metro and smaller cities.

The growing demand for communication, spoken English and soft skills is creating a significant opportunity for the company in these markets. Parents in smaller cities are increasingly focusing on skills such as communication, confidence, personality development and public speaking for their children.

Growing Focus on AI

PlanetSpark is also rapidly increasing the role of AI across its education ecosystem. In July 2025, the company launched Project EMMA - Empathetic Moms Mentoring AI.

Under the initiative, experienced educator-mothers who were on career breaks were involved in improving the AI tutor’s emotional understanding and empathy.

According to the company, its AI tutor has been trained on more than 5 lakh class recordings and five years of proprietary life-skills curriculum. The objective is to enable AI to go beyond content delivery and better understand students’ hesitation, engagement, learning interest and other emotional signals. PlanetSpark is focusing on combining AI with human-led teaching to develop a more personalised learning experience.

Target of Reaching 2.5 Crore Learners

PlanetSpark also has an ambitious long-term vision. Kunal Malik has shared the goal of reaching 2.5 crore, or 25 million, learners in the coming years and building a global company worth more than ₹20,000 crore.

The company believes that the market for communication and soft skills in India remains large and underserved. By expanding beyond K-12 education into professional learning and AI-based education, PlanetSpark aims to tap into this broader market opportunity.

Profitability Remains the Top Priority Before IPO

For PlanetSpark, achieving profitability before an IPO is currently the most important priority. Despite revenue growth in FY25, the company reported a net loss. Therefore, the next phase will focus not only on increasing revenue but also on improving margins and profitability.

If the company succeeds in achieving profitability from FY26 and maintains it for two consecutive financial years, while also taking revenue towards around ₹800 crore, it could meet the key milestones it has set for moving ahead with its IPO plans.

PlanetSpark is now developing K-12 skill development, professional learning and AI-based education as three key pillars of its growth strategy. For the company, the next phase is not just about expanding its learner base, but also about making profitability sustainable and scaling its newer segments. The success of these targets will determine how quickly PlanetSpark’s ₹800 crore revenue and IPO roadmap progresses.
