The Haryana Legislative Assembly has passed the Haryana Private Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2026, paving the way for the establishment of Masters’ Union University in Gurugram. The decision marks a new phase for Gurugram-based Masters’ Union in the higher education sector. The institution had introduced its practitioner-led higher education model six years ago with a focus on enabling students to learn through business and real-world problems.
Masters’ Union was established in 2020. The institution developed a ‘learn-by-building’ model that differs from the traditional approach to business education in India. Under this model, students do not have to wait until after completing their education to apply what they learn. Instead, they get opportunities during their studies to build a company, work on a real industry problem or develop a product.
Under this model, entrepreneurs, CXOs, investors, technologists and experienced industry professionals are directly involved in the students’ learning process. With university status, the institution plans to expand this model beyond business education to several disciplines, including management, technology and engineering.
‘Learn-by-Building’ Model to Provide Students with Real-World Experience
Pratham Mittal, Founder, Masters’ Union, said that the confidence shown by the Government of Haryana validates the model developed by the institution over the past six years. He said that in the age of AI, access to information is no longer the primary challenge. Instead, capabilities such as understanding problems, making the right decisions and developing solutions will become more important. University status will give the institution an opportunity to take this capability-focused model to new disciplines and a larger student community.
The new university will also expand its physical infrastructure in line with its learning model. For this, approximately 5.14 acres of contiguous land is available in Gurugram. The site has approximately 1.07 lakh square feet of constructed area, including around 96,600 square feet of instructional space.
The proposed campus will include accelerator and venture-building spaces, maker and analytics labs, student residences, cultural and sports facilities, as well as research and incubation infrastructure.
More Than 80 Student Startups Supported
Masters’ Union has also developed a strong ecosystem in the field of entrepreneurship. The institution has supported more than 80 student startups since its inception. Under its Venture Initiation Programme, 10 incubated startups have raised more than Rs. 65 crore in funding and recorded a combined annual revenue of Rs. 320 crore in FY 2025.
The institution has also recorded strong performance in terms of employment outcomes. In the last placement cycle, Masters’ Union recorded an average annual compensation of Rs. 34.07 lakh. During the cycle, four offers were above Rs. 1 crore, while the highest package stood at Rs. 1.28 crore.
The institution also recorded 30 international offers across markets including the US, Canada, UAE and Saudi Arabia with an average annual compensation of Rs. 64 lakh. The placement report was audited by B2K Analytics, formerly known as Brickwork Analytics.
Over 3,000 Students Pursuing Management, Technology and Engineering Education
Masters’ Union currently has more than 3,000 students. The institution offers programmes across management, technology and engineering, along with family business and executive learning programmes. Its faculty includes academic experts as well as entrepreneurs, CXOs, investors, technologists and other industry professionals. The model focuses on directly connecting academic learning with industry and business.
