Electric mobility platform Bijliride has partnered with the Telangana Police Women Safety Wing and the State Transport Department to create safe and sustainable employment opportunities for women. The collaboration is part of the newly launched ‘Stree Ride’ initiative, which aims to empower women by enabling them to build independent careers in the mobility and logistics sectors.
The initiative was officially inaugurated by Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) C.V. Anand. Under the program, women will be provided direct access to electric vehicles (EVs) and connected to leading ride-hailing platforms such as Ola, Uber, and Rapido, as well as major quick-commerce delivery services, allowing them to start earning immediately.
To accelerate the rollout, Bijliride is deploying its EV fleet for women currently undergoing specialized driving and safety training across Hyderabad’s police commissionerates. In addition to providing vehicles, the company will streamline processes such as digital background verification and app onboarding through an integrated mobile platform.
The initiative is designed to eliminate administrative hurdles, enabling women to seamlessly log in to ride-hailing or delivery platforms and begin earning without delays. By offering flexibility between passenger transport and delivery services, the program allows participants to choose work opportunities based on demand and personal preferences.
According to early pilot data, the unified digital platform has reduced idle time and administrative burdens, resulting in a nearly 20 percent increase in daily productivity. This has helped participants achieve more stable and reliable incomes.
Commenting on the initiative, Vishal Vikram, Co-Founder of Bijliride, said, “India’s ride-hailing and delivery workforce has traditionally been male-dominated, and we want to change that narrative. Our partnership with the ‘Stree Ride’ initiative is focused on practical empowerment. By providing women with vehicles, technology, and training, we are enabling them to enter the workforce with confidence. Simplifying the technology and onboarding process makes it easier for women to earn on their own terms and build a secure financial future.”
The initiative is being seen as a significant step toward increasing women’s participation in the workforce while simultaneously promoting the adoption of electric mobility solutions across the country.
