BITSoM, Johns Hopkins Carey Business School Announce Dual-Degree Programme in Finance for 2027
The partnership will allow BITSoM MBA students and eligible alumni to pursue a Master of Science in Finance with a concentration in Financial Data Science at Johns Hopkins University in the US, beginning Fall 2027.

BITS School of Management (BITSoM), under the aegis of BITS Pilani, has signed an agreement with Johns Hopkins Carey Business School to launch a dual-degree pathway combining BITSoM’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) with the Master of Science in Finance (MSF), specialising in Financial Data Science, at Johns Hopkins University. The programme is scheduled to begin in Fall 2027 and aims to expand international academic opportunities for students pursuing careers in finance and financial technology.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Saravanan Kesavan, Dean of BITSoM; Dr. Alexander Triantis, Dean of Johns Hopkins Carey Business School and Dr. Stephen Gange, Executive Vice Provost for Academic Affairs at Johns Hopkins University. The partnership was formally recognised at an event in Mumbai attended by Prof. Lasse Mertins, Vice Dean for Education and Partnerships and Dr. Oksana Carlson, Associate Dean for Global Collaborations, from Johns Hopkins Carey Business School.

Credit Recognition to Reduce Course Requirements

Under the agreement, eligible BITSoM students will benefit from a credit-recognition framework designed to reduce the additional coursework and time required to complete the MS in Finance at Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. Students must first complete their MBA at BITSoM before enrolling at Johns Hopkins University.

After completing their MBA, admitted candidates will fulfil the remaining credit requirements over two semesters, covering the fall and spring terms. They can pursue the programme at the Carey Business School's locations in Baltimore or Washington, D.C., in the United States.

The pathway is designed to provide students with advanced finance education while building on the management knowledge and skills developed during their MBA. Its concentration in Financial Data Science will offer an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the intersection of finance and data-driven decision-making.

Programme Open to MBA Students and Recent Alumni

The dual-degree pathway will be available to current BITSoM MBA students applying during their second year of study, as well as BITSoM alumni who graduated within the preceding three years. Applicants must complete their MBA degree at BITSoM before beginning their studies at Johns Hopkins University.

Students admitted to the programme will become part of the Johns Hopkins academic community. They will have access to campus facilities, student services, the Carey Career and Life Design office, and the university's global alumni networks.

These resources are intended to support students' academic development, career planning and professional networking as they prepare for opportunities in the international finance sector.

BITSoM and Johns Hopkins Highlight Global Career Opportunities

Commenting on the partnership, Dr. Saravanan Kesavan, Dean of BITSoM, said the collaboration marked an important milestone in expanding global academic opportunities for students. He highlighted that combining BITSoM's MBA foundation with advanced education at an international institution would help graduates develop specialised expertise and gain international exposure for leadership roles.

Dr. Alexander Triantis, Dean of Johns Hopkins Carey Business School, said the institution was pleased to partner with BITSoM and welcome its students into the Johns Hopkins community. He highlighted the shared commitment to academic excellence and global engagement, along with access to faculty, a rigorous curriculum and professional networks in the United States.

Focus on Cross-Border Academic Collaboration

The agreement reflects both institutions' commitment to international academic exchange and preparing future business leaders for an increasingly interconnected global economy.

Through continued collaboration, joint information sessions and dedicated academic advising, BITSoM and Johns Hopkins Carey Business School plan to support prospective applicants as they explore the programme, understand its requirements and navigate the international education pathway.
