Under the Orange Economy, industries related to creativity, culture, digital content, and innovation will be promoted, which will accelerate economic growth and provide Indian youth with a platform to showcase their talent internationally.


While presenting the Union Budget 2026-27 in Parliament, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that the government will place special emphasis on strengthening the Orange Economy. At the same time, the AYUSH sector will be given a new direction and stronger support.

Speaking on the Orange Economy, she stated that the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) sector is one of the fastest-growing industries in the country. In her Budget speech, she said that by 2030, this sector will require nearly two million professionals. Employment opportunities in this field are expected to increase significantly in the coming years. Therefore, specialised labs related to this sector will be set up in 15,000 secondary schools and 500 colleges across the country.

The Finance Minister said that the government has prepared a concrete plan for education related to the Orange Economy so that Indian youth can fully benefit from this sector. Well-structured and practical education will be provided for this purpose. Students from many schools and universities across the country will be included in this large initiative and Orange Economy-related labs will be established in colleges and universities.

In her speech, she also said that the Indian Institute of Creative Technologies in Mumbai will be supported to enable the establishment of AVGC content creator labs in 15,000 schools and 500 colleges across the country.

She explained that this initiative will train young people in digital and creative skills. Promoting the Orange Economy will create new employment opportunities and strengthen India’s global presence in the creative industry. Experts believe that under the Orange Economy, industries based on creativity, culture, digital content and innovation will be encouraged, which will accelerate economic growth and provide Indian youth with a global platform to showcase their talent.

Along with this, the Finance Minister made important announcements to strengthen the AYUSH sector. She informed that three new All-India Institutes of Ayurveda will be established in the country. She noted that after the COVID-19 pandemic, Ayurveda has gained wider global recognition and acceptance. To meet the growing demand for Ayurvedic products, the government will take several concrete steps.

The Finance Minister also stated that AYUSH pharmacies and drug testing laboratories will be upgraded. In addition, the WHO Global Centre for Traditional Medicine in Jamnagar will be further strengthened so that India can play a leading role globally in the field of traditional medicine.

In the Union Budget 2026-27, the government has made it clear that in the coming years, youth power, the creative industry and traditional medicine will be the three key pillars of India’s development journey.
