This initiative has been introduced in line with the vision of National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020). CBSE first implemented it during the 2025-26 academic session to strengthen partnerships between parents and schools and focus on students’ mental, social and academic development. The initiative received positive support from schools, teachers and parents across the country.
CBSE has now made the Parenting Calendar for 2026-27 more comprehensive and effective. The new edition places special emphasis on promoting regular and structured interaction between schools and parents. It includes teacher-led activities, student wellness programmes and psychological support initiatives to improve the emotional, social and academic growth of children.
New Sections Added
Several new and improved sections have been added to the calendar. These include a section on “Inclusion,” aimed at promoting awareness, sensitivity and equal opportunities for students with diverse needs. Another section titled “Coping with Changes” has also been introduced to help students and parents adapt to curriculum changes and evolving academic expectations.
In addition, the “Parenting Workshops” section has been further strengthened. Under this, different guidance programmes will be designed according to children’s age groups and needs so that parents can play a more effective role in their upbringing and education.
Focus on Holistic Development of Students
According to CBSE, the Parenting Calendar has been designed to improve communication between parents and children, strengthen the relationship between home and school, and ensure active parental participation in children’s development. Its objective is to create a positive, safe and supportive environment where every student can achieve holistic growth.
The launch event of the calendar was attended by school principals, teachers, counsellors, wellness educators and parents. During the programme, participants were informed about the objectives and implementation of the Parenting Calendar.
Appeal to All Schools for Implementation
CBSE has appealed to all its affiliated schools and stakeholders in the education sector to actively adopt and implement the Parenting Calendar to create a better, inclusive and supportive educational environment for students.
