Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and NatWest Group have partnered, through Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer, to boost industry academia collaboration in research, pilot projects and innovation.


Focus on AI, Fintech and Cybersecurity

Under this partnership, joint research and innovation programmes will be carried out in areas such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), fintech, cybersecurity and other emerging technologies. Researchers, students and startups from IIT Delhi will work closely with NatWest Group to solve real-world business challenges, thereby strengthening the connection between academia and industry.

This is FITT’s first collaboration with a global bank, making it a significant milestone. The initiative will provide students with opportunities to work directly with the industry, while companies will benefit from fresh ideas and research-driven solutions. It is also expected to strengthen the startup ecosystem.

NatWest Group’s Chief Information Officer Scott Marcar said that working with leading institutions like IIT Delhi helps shape the next generation of technology talent and guide the direction of innovation. He added that this collaboration will also contribute to making banking services simpler, safer and more efficient.

India as a Hub for Technology and Innovation

NatWest Group India’s Country Head Ruchika Panesar stated that India is a key hub for the company’s technology and innovation efforts. She noted that the partnership with IIT Delhi will strengthen the talent pipeline and deepen engagement with the academic and startup ecosystem.

Dr. Nikhil Aggarwal from FITT-IIT Delhi highlighted that this collaboration represents a strong model of industry-academia partnership, where research moves beyond laboratories and is transformed into practical, scalable solutions.
