AI is evolving beyond predictive models into intelligent systems that can make decisions and act autonomously. Agentic AI, in this context, enables machines to think, plan, and execute tasks with minimal human intervention.


Recognising this growing demand, IITM Pravartak (the Technology Innovation Hub of IIT Madras), in collaboration with Emeritus, has launched a Professional Certificate Programme in Agentic AI and Applications. The programme is supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India.

Rising Demand for AI Skills in Future Jobs

According to the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2025, skills related to decision-making and problem-solving such as AI development and data science are among the most in-demand and rapidly evolving globally. This programme has been designed to address this growing need and equip professionals with next-generation AI capabilities.

A 5-Month Industry-Oriented Programme

This five-month programme is specifically designed for AI professionals, data scientists, machine learning engineers, developers, product managers and domain experts. Participants will learn to build intelligent, goal-oriented AI agents using advanced tools and frameworks such as LangChain, CrewAI, Flowise, OpenAI and FAISS.

The course goes beyond prompt-based AI usage, enabling learners to develop autonomous systems with capabilities such as memory, planning and reasoning. These systems can be deployed to solve complex real-world problems across industries, including business automation, digital transformation and product innovation.

Focus on Practical Learning and Industry Applications

The curriculum is highly practical and application-focused. It includes more than 20 graded coding assignments aimed at strengthening core technical competencies. Participants will also complete a capstone project, where they will design and deploy an end-to-end AI agent system aligned with real industry use cases.

Key learning areas include building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, agent orchestration, workflow automation and integrating AI into business processes. This ensures that learners are equipped to apply Agentic AI across multiple domains such as finance, healthcare, e-commerce and enterprise operations.

Career Support and Global Certifications

The programme offers comprehensive career support, including resume reviews, access to IIMJobs Pro membership and networking opportunities with industry professionals. Participants will also receive three industry-recognised certifications from IBM AI Agent Building, Generative AI for Business and Responsible AI along with a certificate from IITM Pravartak.

Additionally, the programme features live masterclasses by IIT Madras faculty and an optional two-day campus immersion at the IITM Research Park, providing hands-on exposure and peer learning opportunities.

The programme is delivered through a blended format of live online sessions and self-paced learning, making it suitable for full-time working professionals. This flexible structure allows participants to upgrade their skills without disrupting their professional commitments.
