Tejas Cargo India Limited has deployed an electric heavy-duty truck from Blue Energy Motors in Raniganj for Dalmia Cement’s cement transportation operations. The deployment brings together Dalmia Cement, Tejas Cargo and Blue Energy Motors for an electric freight transportation application.
The electric truck will be operated by Tejas Cargo to support Dalmia Cement’s logistics requirements. According to the companies, the deployment is aimed at reducing transportation-related emissions and reflects the growing adoption of electric heavy-duty trucks in commercial freight operations.
Freight transportation contributes to companies’ Scope 3 emissions, making logistics an important area for businesses looking to reduce emissions beyond their manufacturing operations. The deployment brings together a cement manufacturer, logistics operator and electric truck manufacturer for a commercial electric freight application.
Chander Bindal, Chairman and Managing Director, Tejas Cargo, said the logistics sector is moving towards lower-emission transportation. He added that sustainable transportation is expected to play a larger role in freight operations and that the electric truck will be used for Dalmia Cement’s operations.
Anand Mimani, CEO – EV & New Energy Business, Blue Energy Motors, said decarbonising freight transportation will be important for reducing emissions. He added that electric heavy-duty trucks are being evaluated in commercial applications based on their performance, reliability and operating economics.
According to the company, the deployment is another example of the growing use of electric heavy-duty trucks in India’s industrial sector. Cement and infrastructure are being identified as potential commercial applications for electric freight vehicles.
Blue Energy Motors said it currently has more than 1,400 green heavy-duty trucks operating across key freight corridors in India. According to the company, these trucks have collectively covered more than 122 million kilometres and contributed to a reduction of over 33,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions. The company equates this reported reduction to the carbon absorption of nearly 1.3 million trees.
Blue Energy Motors manufactures electric and LNG heavy-duty trucks. The company said its business model combines truck technology with Energy-as-a-Service and maintenance support.
