Amid the growing use of Artificial Intelligence in global business education, INSEAD has entered into a campus-wide partnership with OpenAI. Under this partnership, students, faculty and staff at INSEAD will receive access to ChatGPT Edu. The institution is now moving towards making AI a part of teaching, research and institutional operations rather than using it only as a digital tool.
According to OpenAI, INSEAD has developed a roadmap for the wider use of AI across the institution. This includes enabling students and faculty to use AI effectively, developing AI-powered case studies, promoting personalised learning, using AI in research and exploring the potential of agentic workflows. The institution will also focus on measuring learning outcomes alongside these initiatives.
AI Becomes Part of Business Education
The partnership between INSEAD and OpenAI also reflects the growing role of AI in business schools. Case studies, research, industry projects and learning based on real-world business situations play an important role in business education. The use of AI can create new types of learning experiences across these areas.
According to OpenAI, business schools can serve as an important bridge between AI, learning and the workplace. INSEAD’s plans are also aligned with this approach of connecting AI with education, enabling students and executives to learn how to use AI responsibly and effectively, both in the classroom and in future workplaces.
Recent discussions between OpenAI, INSEAD Dean Francisco Veloso and the institution’s leadership team focused on plans for campus-wide AI adoption. The discussions included strengthening AI capabilities among faculty and students, supporting research and developing AI-based teaching models.
Focus on Personalised Learning and AI-Powered Case Studies
AI-powered case studies and personalised learning are key elements of INSEAD’s plans. Case-based education has long been an important part of business school teaching. Through AI, the institution is exploring possibilities to make case studies more interactive and data-driven.
The institution is also exploring the use of agentic workflows, which can support AI systems in carrying out multi-step tasks. However, INSEAD and OpenAI have not yet publicly announced a detailed timeline for the different stages of the roadmap.
Privacy and Research Security Also Key
Data privacy and research security are also important aspects of the partnership for INSEAD. According to the institution, adopting ChatGPT Edu will help advance the use of AI while taking into account student privacy, research output, intellectual property and institutional security requirements.
The initiative also highlights an important issue for higher education institutions adopting AI-how institutions can use AI while ensuring the protection of data, research and intellectual property.
INSEAD Maintains Strong Research Presence
Research remains an important part of INSEAD’s academic identity. According to the institution, its faculty works on research and knowledge creation across business and management disciplines, with the findings also supporting teaching.
In one edition of the University of Texas at Dallas global research ranking, INSEAD ranked first for research productivity in general management. Meanwhile, in the 2026 UTD Top 100 Business School Research Rankings, INSEAD ranked ninth globally. The ranking is based on faculty research published between 2021 and 2025.
According to INSEAD, its global network includes more than 73,500 alumni, while its academic activities span multiple regions, including France, Singapore, Abu Dhabi and San Francisco.
AI Education to Connect with the Future of Work
The institution-wide adoption of ChatGPT Edu at INSEAD is not limited to the adoption of a technology tool. One of its key objectives is also to prepare students, faculty and executives for a workplace where AI is increasingly becoming part of business processes.
The institution’s roadmap includes measuring learning outcomes alongside providing AI access.
