Maharashtra has marked a significant milestone in India’s higher education landscape as four international universities establish their campuses in Mumbai, strengthening the city’s position as a destination for global education, research and innovation.
University of Bristol, University of York, Illinois Institute of Technology and University of Aberdeen are bringing internationally recognised academic institutions into Maharashtra’s higher education ecosystem. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the opening of the four international university campuses marks an important milestone in the State’s vision of becoming a global destination for higher education. He said the campuses would provide students with greater access to globally benchmarked education while strengthening Mumbai’s academic, research and innovation ecosystem.
Ashwin Damera, CEO and Co-founder of Emeritus & Eruditus, said the arrival of the four international universities represents a significant development for Indian higher education. According to Damera, the campuses will bring globally connected education closer to Indian students while creating opportunities for stronger academic, research and industry engagement.
Global education company Emeritus is the universities’ strategic joint venture partner in India. The company is working with the institutions to support their establishment and growth through expertise across key non-academic functions.
