Harajuku Tokyo Café & Bakehouse has announced a multi-city expansion, building on its presence in Delhi and Mumbai with a dedicated Bakehouse in Delhi and a flagship Tokyo Café & Bakehouse in Mumbai. As part of its growth plans, the brand will also make its debut in Bangalore and introduce its first all-vegetarian outlet in Gujarat.

By strengthening its presence in the North and West, entering Bangalore for the first time, and introducing a pioneering all-vegetarian format in Gujarat, Harajuku is not just expanding its footprint but reinforcing its position as a key curator of the ‘New Japan’ experience in India.

The driving force behind this evolution is founder Gaurav Kanwar. With an academic background from the London School of Economics and the University of Warwick, Kanwar identified a significant gap in the Indian market where Japanese cuisine had largely remained confined to the formal setting of five-star hotels. After conducting extensive research in Tokyo and Osaka, he conceptualised an experience-led format that focuses more on authenticity and cultural depth rather than rigid formality.

“There’s something incredibly special about watching people truly connect with what you’ve built,” says Kanwar. “The response we received in Delhi was overwhelming, and Mumbai took that love to another level. It reassured us that this vision resonates. As we now expand into Bangalore and other cities, it feels like the right time to share this experience with an even wider audience, while staying true to the care, energy, and authenticity that define us.”

After gaining widespread popularity in Delhi and Mumbai for its distinctive food, beverages, and immersive ambience, Harajuku Tokyo Café & Bakehouse believes the time is right to introduce this unique experience to another city ready for something refreshingly different.

Designed as a vibrant, high-energy dining destination, the space combines manga-inspired interiors with a menu curated by Japanese master chefs. Each outlet draws inspiration from a different Japanese district, capturing the lively spirit of Shibuya in Mumbai, the dynamic nightlife of Kabukicho at M3M IFC Gurugram, and the cultural charm of Ueno at Ambience Mall Gurugram. The menu also features crowd favourites such as jiggly pancakes, cotton cheesecake, and Kaiten conveyor belt sushi.

With its upcoming debut in Bangalore and the landmark launch of its first-ever all-vegetarian outlet in Gujarat, Harajuku is poised to build on its growing momentum. These developments signal the start of a broader expansion strategy, as the brand looks to enter key cities across India and steadily strengthen its footprint while bringing the Harajuku experience to new markets in the months ahead.
