Honda Cars India has announced plans to launch more than 10 new models in India by 2030, positioning the country among its top three global growth markets. The company will introduce a range of new products including electric vehicles (EVs), compact SUVs, and mid-size cars, alongside its recently unveiled Honda City Hybrid and Honda ZR-V.
Takashi Nakajima said that the company will launch its first full electric vehicle in India in the second half of the current fiscal year. He added that while the company earlier planned around 10 models, the number may now exceed that, with six launches scheduled in the ongoing financial year.
According to the company, India, along with North America and Japan, remains a key strategic market for future growth. Honda Motor Co. will begin introducing India-specific models from 2028 across two key segments—sub-4 metre vehicles and mid-size cars.
The automaker will follow a multi-powertrain strategy in India, offering internal combustion engine (ICE), hybrid, and battery electric vehicle options. Honda also clarified that it will not enter the hatchback segment, with its sub-4 metre offerings focused primarily on compact SUVs.
