Uber has announced a strategic partnership with the JSW Group to develop and deploy electric vehicle (EV) solutions specifically designed for India’s ride-hailing ecosystem. The collaboration is aimed at accelerating EV adoption in line with India’s broader net-zero emission goals.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two companies was signed last week at JSW’s headquarters in Mumbai. The agreement was formalized between Parth Jindal and Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, marking a significant step in India’s clean mobility transition.
Under this partnership, Uber and JSW Green Mobility will jointly explore opportunities to create EV solutions tailored to the unique requirements of the Indian ride-hailing market. These solutions are expected to focus on affordability, performance, and scalability.
The companies highlighted that the initiative will also address the evolving needs of both riders and drivers. By combining Uber’s platform reach with JSW’s automotive and clean mobility capabilities, the partnership aims to build practical and scalable EV solutions for India.
According to Uber India and South Asia President Prabhjeet Singh, the transition to electric mobility will require strong collaboration across technology platforms, automakers, fleet operators, and infrastructure providers. The partnership with JSW is expected to help accelerate EV adoption across Uber’s platform in India.
