IBM Ventures invests in BQP, taking its funding to $8M, as its BQPhy physics-AI platform moves into production use.


BQP, a physics acceleration company, has received a strategic investment from IBM Ventures, taking the company’s total funding to USD 8 million. Venn10 Capital and existing investor Monta Vista Capital also participated in the round.

The investment funds BQP’s expansion from engineering design into operational deployment, scaling delivery and go-to-market as the company moves beyond its core aerospace and defense customer base. Since its 2025 seed round, backed by New York State’s venture arm and other institutional investors, BQP has grown contracted and committed revenue 8x, tripled its customer base and grown platform users 20x. The investment extends a relationship that began in 2023, when BQP joined the IBM Quantum Network.

BQP’s flagship platform, BQPhy, addresses a gap in physics simulation: classical solvers leave roughly 85 per cent of a GPU’s floating-point capacity idle, as sparse iterative methods are bound by memory access rather than compute. BQPhy’s physics-AI optimization engine resolves full-fidelity physics inside operational decision windows using this idle capacity, delivered through two solvers on a single SDK, integrated natively into MATLAB and accessible via APIs for Python, Julia and other frameworks.

QuantumNOW, the platform’s classical-hardware solver, is already in production on customers’ existing CPU and GPU infrastructure. Each deployment identifies which problems are suited to a QPU, feeding into QuantumMAX, BQP’s quantum-native solver currently in development for heterogeneous CPU-GPU-QPU execution.

In aerospace and defense, BQP’s work includes an SBIR with the U.S. Space Force and SpaceWERX, where BQPhy propagates a catalog of over 3,000 space objects in under a second, about 250x faster than the open-source Orekit solver. The company also holds a CRADA with the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Aerospace Systems Directorate, has demonstrated BQPhy on radio-frequency signal problems with NavalX, and built a system-level propulsion optimization for UAV mission profiles with Modovolo. In energy, BQP is applying the platform to EV battery thermal management work funded by India’s Ministry of Heavy Industries and the Indian School of Business.

“The industry spent years treating this as a hardware problem that warranted faster chips, more of them, and eventually a quantum one. But it was always a software problem,” said Abhishek Chopra, Founder and CEO of BQP.

“Their proven track record of developing software that helps enterprises build a practical path toward hybrid quantum-classical computing is what gives IBM Ventures confidence in making this investment,” said Emily Fontaine, Global Head of IBM Ventures.

BQP’s research has been published in IEEE, AIAA and APL Quantum, with best paper awards at AeroCon 2026 and the IEEE Space, Aerospace and Defence Conference 2026. The company is headquartered in Syracuse, New York, with offices in the UK and India.
