IIIT-Delhi’s New Course to Equip Students with Future Technology Skills
Delhi-based Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT-Delhi), in collaboration with TimesPro, has announced the launch of a new Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Interaction Design and UX (User Experience).

The 12-month blended programme has been introduced to help students and working professionals gain expertise in modern digital design, user experience and emerging technologies.

According to the institute, this industry-oriented programme will develop a strong understanding of design thinking, user experience principles and modern Interaction Design. Along with this, learners will also be trained in practical skills related to emerging technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), Wearable Interfaces and Generative AI.

The programme, designed by IIIT-Delhi’s faculty members and researchers, will be conducted in a blended format. It will include live online classes along with campus immersion sessions. The institute said that this model will provide flexible learning opportunities while also offering students campus exposure and industry experience.

The course will cover interdisciplinary frameworks related to design, technology and human factors. Its objective is to enable students to create digital products and platforms that offer simple, effective and meaningful user experiences.

Focus on Career Growth and Career Transition

According to the institute, the programme will also be beneficial for students and professionals who want to advance their careers in the design and innovation sector or transition into a new field.

Experts believe that the demand for UX Design, Interaction Design, and Emerging Experience Technologies will grow rapidly in the coming years. In such a scenario, this programme can play an important role in preparing students for the future digital industry.

AR and VR-Based Education Market Growing Rapidly

Reports suggest that the AR/VR technology market in the education sector could reach USD 22.5 billion by 2030. During this period, the sector is expected to witness an annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 41.2 percent. This clearly indicates that the demand for immersive technology-based education and digital experiences is likely to rise significantly in the future.

Better UX Design Improves Business Performance

According to a study by Forrester a well-designed user interface can improve a platform’s conversion rate by nearly 200 percent. A strong UX design strategy on the other hand, can increase it by up to 400 percent.

At the same time, the global UX industry is also expected to witness significant growth. Reports indicate that the Global UX Industry could reach nearly USD 32.95 billion in the coming years. This highlights that User-Centred Design has now become strategically important across almost every sector.

Students to Gain Future-Ready Digital Skills

Education experts believe that IIIT-Delhi’s new programme will prepare students according to the needs of the future technology and design industry. It can create better career opportunities for students in rapidly growing fields such as AI, digital design and immersive technologies.

In addition, experts say that the demand for User Experience (UX), Interaction Design and Human-Centred Technology is expected to increase rapidly across companies and educational institutions in the coming years. As a result, this programme will not only provide technical knowledge but also equip students with important skills such as creative thinking, problem-solving, and digital innovation. This can help students secure better career opportunities in the technology, design, and research sectors at both national and international levels.
