Bengaluru-based electric scooter manufacturer River Mobility has been awarded the prestigious Red Dot Product Design Award 2025 for its Indie electric scooter. This follows the company’s Red Dot Design Concept Award 2024, making River Mobility the only Indian two-wheeler manufacturer to win both awards in consecutive years.
The international Red Dot jury recognized the Indie scooter for its functional and practical design. The vehicle offers 43 litres of under-seat storage and 12 litres in the front compartment, the highest in its segment. Additional features include lock-and-load pannier stays for customizable luggage options, protective safeguards to minimize fall damage, twin-beam headlamps, and front foot pegs, making it a true multi-utility vehicle.
Vipin George, Co-founder and Chief Product Officer at River Mobility, said the award reaffirms the company’s rider-focused design philosophy. He added that the Indie scooter has been designed to meet the practical needs of Indian riders.
The Red Dot Design Award is regarded as a global benchmark for design excellence, and the Indie was chosen for its transport versatility, protective elements, and everyday usability.
Founded in March 2021 by Aravind Mani and Vipin George, River Mobility focuses on electric scooter manufacturing. Its investors include Yamaha Motor Corporation, Mitsui & Co. Ltd, Marubeni Corporation, Al Futtaim Group, Lowercarbon Capital, Toyota Ventures, Maniv Mobility, and Trucks VC.
