Info Edge has launched a new growth-stage investment vehicle, B8 Fund-I with an initial capital commitment of INR 250 crore. The fund marks the company’s first dedicated effort to invest in later-stage startups and may also raise capital from external sponsors, potentially increasing its total corpus beyond the initial amount.
The company currently operates four early-stage investment platforms. These include Info Edge Ventures, which has raised INR 2,300 crore across three funds; Capital 2B with a INR 280-crore corpus; Redstart Labs, which focuses on AI-led startups and direct investments made from the company’s balance sheet.
Through its venture platforms, Info Edge has backed early-stage companies such as Gnani AI, Ixigo, Shiprocket, Zingbus and Truemeds. Using its own balance sheet, the company made early investments in Zomato and Policybazaar.
According to a regulatory filing, the new fund will target growth-stage, technology-enabled companies based in India or primarily focused on the Indian market. The vehicle is registered with Securities and Exchange Board of India as a Category II alternative investment fund and will have a tenure of eight years from its first closing.
In May last year, shareholders approved a proposal allowing Info Edge to invest up to INR 1,000 crore in Info Edge Ventures’ third fund. The Info Edge Ventures funds are managed in partnership with Temasek.
For the quarter ended December 31, Info Edge reported operating revenue of INR 819 crore, while net profit rose 10% year-on-year to INR 317 crore.
