The company electric powertrain is designed for tractors in the 40-55 HP range. Mecwin plans to supply the system to existing tractor OEMs rather than launch a complete tractor under its own brand.

Mecwin Technologies has developed a 30 kW-class electric powertrain for electric tractors. The system operates at around 400V and features an eight-forward and four-reverse multi-speed transmission. According to the company, the powertrain has been developed for tractors in the 40-55 HP range and has completed more than 500 field hours.

Instead of developing a complete electric tractor under its own brand, Mecwin plans to supply the powertrain to tractor OEMs. According to the company, the system can be adapted to an OEM's chassis, tyres, agricultural implements, operating speeds and duty cycle. Its development approach begins at the tyre-soil interface, taking into account parameters such as tractive force, wheel torque, ground speed, implement resistance and wheel slip.

The current 45 HP-class platform combines a 30 kW-class electric drive, approximately 400V system, eight-forward/four-reverse multi-speed transmission, differential, final drive, driven rear axle, motor controller and CAN/vehicle-control interfaces. Mecwin said components such as the PTO and hydraulic power interfaces, final-drive ratio, packaging and software calibration can be configured according to the tractor manufacturer's requirements.

Mecwin plans to work with tractor manufacturers on the next stage of OEM integration and field validation. This will include vehicle definition, simulation, packaging, prototype integration, calibration, field validation and production industrialisation. According to the company, electric tractor performance depends not only on the motor but also on the interaction between the tyre-soil interface and the complete powertrain system. Therefore, the powertrain will be adapted to the requirements of individual tractor applications rather than being offered as a single universal gearbox.
