NavPrakriti to Invest 100 Cr in Odisha Refining Plant
NavPrakriti plans to invest over  100 crore to set up a critical minerals refining facility in Odisha, aimed at recycling batteries and extracting key materials like lithium and cobalt.

NavPrakriti has announced plans to invest over 100 crore to set up a state-of-the-art greenfield critical minerals refining facility in Odisha, expected to be operational by FY 2028–29. The plant will focus on extracting key materials such as lithium, cobalt, and nickel from end-of-life batteries.

The company has also secured eligibility under the National Critical Mineral Mission, which is expected to strengthen domestic supply chains and reduce reliance on imports. The facility will process up to 5,000 metric tonnes of batteries annually, contributing to the growth of a circular economy.

Founded in 2024 by Akhilesh Bagaria and Avnish Bagaria, NavPrakriti already operates its first plant in Serampore, West Bengal, with an annual capacity of 12,000 tonnes, scalable to 24,000 tonnes. The Odisha project will mark its second greenfield facility.

The company is also strengthening its R&D ecosystem through collaborations with national and global institutions, driving innovation in battery recycling and chemical recovery technologies.

Avnish Bagaria said that with eligibility under the mission, the company aims to partner with over 150 battery OEMs and leading manufacturers in the next three years. NavPrakriti has also partnered with NASH Energy to ensure responsible end-of-life management and closed-loop recycling of batteries, including production scrap, in compliance with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations.

The project is expected to generate over 500 direct and indirect jobs. With this initiative, NavPrakriti aims to strengthen India’s sustainable battery ecosystem, reduce import dependence, and support the country’s clean energy and resource security goals.
