Ola Electric Launches Shakti Energy Storage Portfolio
Shakti Gen2 will provide home backup and solar storage, while Shakti Rack and Mahashakti will target commercial, industrial and grid-scale energy storage applications.

On the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day, Ola Electric announced the expansion of its new Shakti energy storage portfolio, designed to store energy when it is available and deploy it when required. The portfolio will cater to applications ranging from residential backup to commercial, industrial and grid-scale energy storage.

Ola Shakti is built around the company’s indigenous LFP battery technology and vertically integrated cell-to-system capabilities. The portfolio covers three key markets—Shakti Gen2 for residential energy storage, Shakti Rack for commercial and infrastructure applications, and Mahashakti for industrial and utility-scale energy storage.

Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and Managing Director, Ola Electric, said the company’s battery and cell technology can be applied beyond electric mobility. Through Shakti, Ola Electric aims to enable clean energy storage and intelligent energy management from homes to the grid.

Shakti Gen2 for Homes

Shakti Gen2 has been introduced for residential energy storage, combining battery backup, energy management and solar storage in a single system. The 4.6 kWh/3 kW model is priced at ₹99,999, while the 9.2 kWh/6 kW model is priced at ₹1,74,999.

Both models can be reserved for ₹999, with deliveries scheduled to begin in November 2026. The system will support energy monitoring through the Ola Shakti app and MPPT-based solar energy storage.

The company has also introduced the Shakti Solar Charge Controller for solar applications, available in 3 kW and 6 kW configurations.

Shakti Rack for Commercial and Infrastructure Applications

For commercial applications, Ola Electric will offer the Shakti AC Rack and Shakti DC Rack. The AC Rack integrates the battery and inverter into a single system and has a capacity of 73 kWh. It is designed for backup power, peak shaving and energy optimisation.

The Shakti DC Rack offers 38–77 kWh per rack and operates on a 48V DC system. It is designed for telecom and other critical DC infrastructure backup requirements. Both products are scheduled to become available from March 2027.

Mahashakti Targets Grid-Scale Energy Storage

At the top end of the portfolio, Mahashakti Rack and Mahashakti have been developed for commercial, industrial and utility-scale applications. Mahashakti Rack has a capacity of 257 kWh and a power output of 125 kW. It can be deployed across manufacturing facilities, commercial buildings, warehouses, retail outlets and digital infrastructure.

The utility-scale Mahashakti system offers 6.26 MWh of capacity and 2.5 MW of power. It can be configured for two- to four-hour durations and is designed for renewable energy management, peak shifting, energy arbitrage and grid support.

Plans for Up to 20 GWh BESS Deployment by 2032

With the growing adoption of renewable energy in India, the demand for large-scale energy storage is expected to increase. Ola Electric has already signed an MoU with Axis Energy for the potential deployment of up to 20 GWh of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) by 2032 under the Mahashakti platform.

The Ola Shakti portfolio will leverage the company’s Krishnagiri Gigafactory, indigenous LFP cell technology and existing distribution network. According to the company, all its energy storage products will use LFP technology, while vertical integration from cell to pack is expected to support safety, supply-chain security and total cost of ownership.

Reservations for Shakti Gen2 have opened at ₹999 through Ola Electric’s website and retail network, with deliveries planned from November 2026. The Shakti AC Rack and DC Rack are scheduled for March 2027, while Mahashakti Rack and Mahashakti are also expected to be available from March 2027. Pricing and detailed technical specifications for the commercial and utility-scale products will be announced later.
