PM Modi urges global semiconductor CEOs to help drive India’s next growth phase at a Seva Teerth roundtable.


Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a semiconductor roundtable with global and Indian industry executives at Seva Teerth on Wednesday, calling for deeper collaboration between the government and the semiconductor industry as India moves from building foundational capabilities to scaling its presence across the global semiconductor value chain.

The meeting, held on the eve of the fifth edition of Semicon India was attended by CEOs and senior executives from Micron, Infineon, Applied Materials, ASML, Merck, Tokyo Electron, Fujifilm, AMD, Intel, Tata Electronics, Lam Research, Rapidus, NXP, Foxconn, Semi Conductor Devices, Advantest, Celesta Capital, CG Power and IBM.

Modi urged industry leaders to actively participate in the next phase of India’s semiconductor growth and said the country should aspire to be among the early leaders in emerging technologies. He highlighted India’s foundation of talent, technology adoption and infrastructure and called for greater industry participation in skilling, innovation and emerging areas including AI and quantum computing. Referring to the target of training one crore people in AI, he said India’s talent pool combined with global industry experience can create significant opportunities.

The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to a predictable and responsive policy environment, adding that policies must evolve alongside technological advances and industry requirements. He invited industry leaders to share suggestions on policy and administrative measures, saying their input would be considered in strengthening the sector.

The attending CEOs expressed confidence in opportunities under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) 2.0, noting progress in manufacturing, design, infrastructure and talent development and committed to contributing to India’s emergence as a globally competitive semiconductor and technology hub.
