Renault Group has completed the full acquisition of electric light commercial vehicle (e-LCV) company Flexis SAS, making it a wholly owned subsidiary. The transaction was finalized after receiving all required regulatory and antitrust approvals under a binding restructuring agreement signed by the founding partners in February 2026.
As part of the deal, Renault Group acquired Volvo Group’s 45 percent stake and France-based shipping and logistics company CMA CGM Group’s 10 percent shareholding, securing 100 percent ownership of Flexis SAS.
Flexis was established in 2024 as a joint venture focused on developing zero-emission urban transportation solutions. Despite exiting the venture, Volvo Group stated that the transaction will have no significant impact on its financial performance.
Renault Group said the strategic restructuring will not affect the project’s product development timeline or manufacturing roadmap. Engineering teams based in the Île-de-France and Normandy regions of France will continue advancing the company’s next-generation electric commercial vehicle program.
The Flexis vehicle platform is built on a dedicated EV-native skateboard architecture designed around an 800-volt electric powertrain. It also incorporates a Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) architecture that enables real-time fleet diagnostics, charging infrastructure management, and efficient last-mile urban logistics operations.
Renault confirmed that production of the first vehicle based on the platform, the Renault Trafic Van E-Tech Electric, remains on schedule to begin by the end of 2026 at the company’s Sandouville manufacturing facility in France.
The acquisition is viewed as a significant step in strengthening Renault Group’s electric commercial mobility strategy and accelerating the development of zero-emission transportation solutions across Europe.
