Renault India Plans to Expand Retail Network to 500 Showrooms by 2027
The company is expanding its product portfolio and focusing on E-Tech strong hybrid technology as part of its growth strategy in India.

Renault India plans to expand its retail network to around 500 showrooms across the country by the end of 2027. The company currently has more than 350 showrooms and has added 50-60 new touchpoints, including showrooms and workshops, so far this year. Renault India Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Francisco Marques, said the network expansion will continue alongside the launch of new products.

Renault India is also preparing to expand its product portfolio to seven models. The company currently sells the Kwid, Kiger, Triber and Duster in India. The upcoming products will include a seven-seater SUV, a sub-4-metre SUV based on the Bridger concept and another model that has not yet been disclosed.

The retail expansion will not be limited to adding new outlets. With rising rental costs in major cities, Renault is also considering smaller showroom formats. These outlets will use digital displays to showcase a wider range of vehicles to customers.

According to Francisco Marques, the company’s future retail strategy will focus on having quality outlets at the right locations rather than simply increasing the number of sales points. Renault also plans to adapt its retail strategy according to different customer groups and its expanding product portfolio.

Customers are increasingly researching vehicles online before visiting dealerships. As a result, Renault expects showroom visits to become more focused on pricing, test drives and experiencing the vehicle. The company is updating its showroom formats to reflect this changing customer behaviour.

Alongside its product expansion, Renault India is placing greater focus on E-Tech strong hybrid technology. The company expects hybrid technology to play an important role in the coming years as diesel demand declines and electric vehicles take time to achieve wider adoption.

Renault India also plans to localise its E-Tech hybrid technology in the country. The company aims to target customers who may otherwise consider diesel vehicles and has chosen to move directly from diesel towards hybrid technology as part of its India strategy.
