SAIL and EdCIL Sign MoU: Smart Digital Classrooms to Boost Inclusive Education
SAIL has taken an important step in the education sector under its CSR initiative.

Steel Authority of India Limited (Steel Authority of India Limited) has taken a significant step in the education sector under its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiative. The company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EdCIL India Limited, a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Education.

This agreement was signed on 26 May 2026, with the main objective of setting up ‘Smart Digital Classrooms’ in schools located around SAIL’s operational areas, so that students can access modern technology-based education.

Through this initiative, the use of digital boards, e-learning content, and smart teaching tools will be promoted in classrooms, making learning more interactive and effective.

Project Implementation and Benefits

The primary goal of this project is to promote inclusive education and improve students’ learning outcomes. Through digital classrooms, students from rural and industrial regions will also be able to access quality education.

This initiative is aligned with India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG-4), which aims to ensure equal, equitable, and quality education for all.

Expansion of Educational Opportunities

This initiative will allow students to experience digital learning along with traditional classroom teaching, improving their understanding and creative thinking abilities. The use of audio-visual tools in smart classrooms will make complex subjects easier and more engaging.

In addition, the project will help bridge the digital divide by ensuring that students in rural and remote areas receive the same quality of education as those in urban schools.

Presence of Officials and Future Direction

The MoU was signed in the presence of SAIL Director (Personnel) Shri K. K. Singh. Senior officials from both SAIL and EdCIL were also present on the occasion.

This partnership is expected to connect thousands of students with digital education in the coming years and further strengthen the technological modernization of India’s education system.
