Mukesh Mundra is a Chartered Accountant and Certified Financial Analyst. He brings more than 26 years of experience across the media, telecom, manufacturing and consumer sectors. Over the years, he has handled financial leadership responsibilities in several major companies and has been closely associated with corporate finance and business strategy.
Before joining upGrad, Mundra was leading the finance division at JioStar. Prior to that, he worked for more than eight years as CFO at Viacom18 Media. During the early stages of his career, he also worked with companies such as Idea Cellular, Grasim Industries and Anand Rathi Group.
Focus on Financial Strategy and Global Expansion
In his new role at upGrad, Mukesh Mundra will oversee the company’s financial and administrative operations. He will be responsible for financial planning, business collaboration, corporate governance and monitoring expansion initiatives. He will also play a key role in advancing the company’s international growth efforts.
The company’s Co-founder and Chairperson Ronnie Screwvala said that Mukesh Mundra’s deep financial experience and his expertise in handling large consumer businesses will strengthen upGrad’s leadership team. According to him, Mundra’s understanding of finance, governance and business transformation will play an important role in expanding the company’s global operations and long-term growth strategy.
Preparing for Expansion in the Education Sector
The appointment comes at a time when upGrad is working to further strengthen its expansion in the education sector. The company is currently focusing on digital education, skill development and increasing its presence in global markets.
According to media reports, upGrad is also moving ahead with the proposed acquisition of Unacademy. However, the deal is currently under regulatory review. Industry experts believe that the appointment of the new CFO could provide additional strength to the company’s future growth plans and financial strategy.
