South Korean battery manufacturer Samsung SDI has announced a multi-year agreement with German automaker Mercedes-Benz to supply batteries for electric vehicles. This marks Samsung SDI’s first EV battery supply deal with Mercedes-Benz.
Under the agreement, Samsung SDI will provide high-nickel NCM (nickel, cobalt, manganese) batteries, which are expected to deliver higher energy density and improved performance for next-generation electric vehicles.
Mercedes-Benz plans to use these batteries in its upcoming compact and mid-size electric SUVs as well as coupe models, further strengthening its EV portfolio.
The partnership is expected to enhance the strategic positioning of both companies in the electric mobility space and contribute to the growth of the global EV ecosystem.
