EV startup Simple Energy has unveiled its Gen 2 electric scooter lineup, led by the all-new Simple Ultra. The company claims the Simple Ultra is India’s first electric scooter to offer an IDC-certified range of 400 km. With this launch, Simple Energy has expanded its portfolio to four models aimed at catering to different rider segments.
The Simple Ultra is equipped with a 6.5 kWh battery, which the company says is the largest battery pack fitted on an electric scooter in India. It delivers a top speed of 115 kmph and can accelerate from 0 to 40 kmph in just 2.77 seconds. In terms of performance, it is positioned as the company’s second-fastest scooter after the Simple OneS.
The Gen 2 lineup also includes updated versions of existing models. The Simple One Gen 2 is offered in two battery options—a 4.5 kWh variant with a claimed range of 236 km, priced at ₹1,69,999 (ex-showroom Bengaluru), and a 5 kWh variant delivering 265 km range at ₹1,77,999. The Simple OneS Gen 2 offers a range of 190 km and is priced at ₹1,49,999, with a limited-time introductory price of ₹1,39,999.
Commenting on the launch, Simple Energy founder and CEO Suhas Rajkumar said, “Indian commuters are not one-size-fits-all. A significant segment demands extreme range and performance without compromise, and the Simple Ultra has been built precisely for that customer.”
Several technical upgrades have been introduced across the Gen 2 scooters. The Simple One variants are now 8 kg lighter, with kerb weight reduced to 129 kg, while peak motor power has been increased to 8.8 kW. New features include a 1-litre glove box, dedicated charging port, traction control, four-level regenerative braking, and cruise control. Underseat storage has been expanded to 35 litres, and seat height has been lowered to 780 mm.
The Simple One Gen 2 comes with a 7-inch touchscreen display, while the Simple OneS Gen 2 features a non-touch display. Both models offer 5G e-SIM connectivity, Bluetooth, over-the-air updates, and navigation, along with IP65-rated protection for use in varying weather conditions.
All models are backed by an 8-year motor warranty, a 3-year/30,000 km vehicle warranty, and a 3-year/20,000 km charger warranty. The scooters support home charging through a portable 750W charger.
Simple Energy currently operates over 61 showrooms across cities including Bengaluru, Goa, Pune, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Jaipur. The scooters are also available on Amazon and Flipkart. The company plans to expand its footprint to 150 dealerships and 200 service centres by March 2026.
Founded in 2019, Simple Energy is preparing for an IPO in Q2–Q3 FY27, targeting around $350 million. The company aims to achieve EBITDA positivity by the end of FY26 and has raised $51 million in funding so far. While the Simple One (4.5 kWh and 5 kWh) and Simple OneS Gen 2 are available for purchase, availability details for the Simple Ultra are yet to be announced.
