SpeakX.ai Plans Regional Language Expansion and AI Enhancements
SpeakX.ai, India’s largest AI-powered English speaking platform, has raised $16 million to enhance its technology, expand regionally, and scale its profitable operations.

SpeakX.ai, India’s largest Generative AI-powered English speaking platform, has raised $16 million in a Pre-Series B funding round led by WestBridge Capital, with participation from Elevation Capital and Goodwater Capital. The round also attracted backing from prominent angels, including Shyamal Anadkat of OpenAI and Ronnie Screwvala of upGrad.

The funding comes as SpeakX.ai cements its position as one of India’s fastest-scaling and profitable edtech startups, surpassing 1 million monthly learners, 200,000 active paying subscribers, and generating an annual recurring revenue (ARR) of $7.5 million. The company has been EBITDA-positive since April 2025, posting $150,000 in monthly profits and $1 million in cumulative EBITDA over the last five months.

Unlike global language apps that focus on learning a new language, SpeakX.ai addresses a critical challenge in India: helping millions who know basic English but cannot speak fluently in daily life. For India’s middle- and lower-middle-class population across metros, Tier 2/3 cities, and rural areas, English is a gateway to jobs, social mobility, and respect. SpeakX.ai has positioned itself as the go-to platform for job seekers, students, and homemakers aiming to advance through better communication skills.

Built as a GenAI-first platform, SpeakX.ai offers an AI tutor that simulates real-world scenarios, including job interviews and workplace discussions. The platform provides real-time speech correction, adaptive difficulty, vernacular-to-English translation, and practical vocabulary coaching. Learners spend an average of 15 minutes per session, practicing conversational English that is natural, relevant, and confidence-building.

SpeakX.ai’s growth is backed by highly efficient unit economics, with a customer acquisition cost (CAC) payback in one day, a 3.7x LTV/CAC ratio within six months, and 35% retention at Month 3, reflecting strong product-market fit and sustainable, profitable growth. Most revenue comes from job seekers and students, highlighting the link between English proficiency and employability.

The new funding will be used to enhance AI technology, expand the team, and add regional language support. Currently, 70% of learners are Hindi-speaking, and the platform will soon expand to Telugu, Tamil, Marathi, Bengali, and other high-demand regional languages. While globally capable, the company remains India-first in execution.

Founder Arpit Mittal said, “India does not need another generic edtech app. We are building a truly AI-native language company with the ambition of making SpeakX synonymous with English speaking. For our users, English is not just a skill, it is confidence, career, and dignity. Our mission is to be their trusted companion on this journey.”

Investors expressed strong conviction in SpeakX.ai’s potential. Sandeep Singhal, Managing Partner at WestBridge Capital, said, “Language proficiency continues to drive economic mobility. SpeakX.ai’s AI-native platform is opening new pathways for millions of learners.” Manish Advani, Principal at Elevation Capital, added, “SpeakX.ai is empowering users to speak, connect, and advance in their careers. We are excited to deepen our partnership as the platform scales.”

With a profitable foundation and scalable technology, SpeakX.ai is targeting $100 crore (~$12 million) in annual EBITDA by 2026 and aims to build a $300–400 million business in India within 2–3 years. Looking ahead, Mittal envisions SpeakX becoming synonymous with English speaking globally, much like Xerox is with photocopying.
