Tata Motors Ltd. has rolled out its 1 million commercial vehicle from its Lucknow manufacturing facility, marking 35 years of production in Uttar Pradesh. The milestone vehicle, a zero-emission electric bus, was flagged off on April 15, 2026, in Lucknow by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and N. Chandrasekaran.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Tata Motors Managing Director and CEO Girish Wagh, along with senior state and company officials. Established in 1992, the Lucknow plant manufactures trucks and buses across multiple powertrains, including battery-electric and fuel cell electric vehicles. Spread across nearly 600 acres, the facility has an annual production capacity of over 100,000 vehicles, supports more than 8,000 livelihoods, and caters to international markets.
Speaking at the event, Yogi Adityanath described the milestone as a moment of pride for the state, highlighting Uttar Pradesh’s industrial capabilities and its vision to become a trillion-dollar economy. N. Chandrasekaran emphasized the long-standing partnership between the company and the state, noting its role in driving industrial growth, job creation, and capability building.
The Lucknow facility operates on 100% renewable electricity and has achieved CII-certified water-positive status. It also runs skilling initiatives such as Kaushalya, Lakshya, and Saksham under a dual training and apprenticeship model to prepare youth for manufacturing roles. Tata Motors stated that the plant will continue to align its production with its net-zero target of 2045, alongside Uttar Pradesh’s net-zero 2070 vision.
