American electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla has launched its first pop-up experience in the Indian state of Punjab. The event is being held at Pavilion Mall Ludhiana from March 6 to March 12, 2026, where the company is showcasing its popular electric SUV, the Tesla Model Y (Model Y Premium). Through this initiative, residents can explore the vehicle up close, participate in guided walkarounds, and book test drives through the Tesla India website.
According to the company, the Tesla Model Y has been the world’s best-selling vehicle for three consecutive years—2023, 2024, and 2025. The model has also received top safety ratings from global testing agencies including the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), Euro NCAP, Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), and the China Insurance Automotive Safety Index (C-IASA).
Using Tesla’s Supercharger network, the vehicle can add up to 267 km of driving range in just 15 minutes. Currently, two variants are available in the Indian market. The Rear-Wheel Drive variant is priced at INR 59,89,000 and offers a WLTP range of 500 km, while the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive variant is priced at INR 67,89,000 and delivers a range of up to 661 km. Both variants have a top speed of 201 km/h. Customers are required to pay an order deposit of INR 22,220 along with an administrative and service fee of INR 50,000 to book the vehicle.
To attract buyers, Tesla is offering an exchange incentive of up to INR 3,00,000 for customers trading in petrol or diesel vehicles. The company has also introduced a financing option with monthly instalments starting at around INR 49,000 under a seven-year step-up EMI plan at an annual interest rate of 8.5%, with a minimum down payment of INR 6,00,000.
Tesla claims that drivers who travel around 1,500 km per month could save up to INR 20,000 monthly in fuel and maintenance costs by switching to the Tesla Model Y. In India, every purchase of the vehicle also includes a complimentary home wall connector, allowing home charging costs to be as low as approximately INR 1 per kilometre, depending on local electricity tariffs.
Apart from the Ludhiana pop-up event, Tesla currently operates three permanent locations in India: a centre in Gurugram, an experience centre in Bandra Kurla Complex, and a facility at Indira Gandhi International Airport. All three locations are open daily from 10 AM to 9 PM.
