Tesla to Expand Service and Charging Network Across India
Tesla is accelerating its India expansion by strengthening its service, bodyshop, and charging infrastructure across key cities. With the launch of the Model Y L, the company aims to deepen its premium EV presence despite high import duties.

American electric vehicle maker Tesla is planning to expand its service and bodyshop network in India during the current quarter as part of its strategy to strengthen its presence in the country. The company is set to add new facilities in cities such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Ahmedabad, while also aiming to begin deliveries in more states in the coming months. The update was shared by Tesla India Country Head Sharad Agarwal.

Tesla has also launched the six-seater Tesla Model Y L in India, priced at ₹61.99 lakh. With this addition, Tesla’s India portfolio now ranges from ₹59.89 lakh to ₹67.89 lakh. The Model Y L is a long-wheelbase version offering a claimed range of up to 681 km (WLTP) and features a 2+2+2 seating layout.

Since entering the Indian market, Tesla has established experience centres in Mumbai, Delhi, and Gurugram, along with service centres and delivery hubs in the Delhi-NCR region. A new service centre and bodyshop have also recently been activated in Pune.

Agarwal highlighted that Tesla’s service approach differs from traditional automakers, as many issues can be resolved remotely through software diagnostics and updates, minimizing the need for physical visits. He emphasized that the company aims to provide customers with “peace of mind” through this model.

On the infrastructure front, Tesla is rapidly building its charging ecosystem. The company has already set up five Supercharger stations in India, including a recently opened facility at Nexus Seawoods mall in Navi Mumbai—its first mall-based charging location in the country. In the next phase, Tesla plans to connect key cities such as Delhi, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai through charging corridors.

Home charging remains a key pillar of Tesla’s India strategy, with the company capable of installing charging infrastructure across 28 states and expanding it nationwide.

Tesla continues to follow its direct-to-consumer model in India, allowing customers to order vehicles online and receive doorstep deliveries. Since starting deliveries in September 2025, the company has already delivered vehicles across 21 states.

Despite its expansion plans, Tesla’s volumes are expected to remain niche in the near term due to high import duties of up to 100%, which keep prices at a premium. However, the company is also preparing to expand beyond passenger EVs into India’s industrial energy storage segment, marking the next phase of its long-term growth strategy in the country.
