Toscano has expanded its presence in Mumbai with the launch of its fifth outlet at Phoenix Marketcity, marking a continued push into high-footfall retail destinations.

The brand, which already operates in locations such as Navi Mumbai, Andheri, Malad and Nariman Point is

strengthening its positioning in the premium casual dining segment.

The new outlet aligns with Toscano’s strategy of entering established shopping and lifestyle hubs, where a mix of dining and retail drives consistent consumer traffic. The Kurla location is expected to cater to both transactional dining occasions, such as quick business lunches and experiential dining during evenings.

Founded by Jean-Michel Jasserand and Goutham Balachandran, Toscano has built its brand around Tuscan-inspired cuisine, focusing on ingredient-led cooking and standardized execution. Over time, the chain has scaled to over 20 outlets across major Indian cities including Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Delhi, indicating a steady expansion model within the organised restaurant sector.

The Kurla outlet continues with the brand’s existing menu architecture, ensuring consistency across locations. Core offerings include dishes such as Insalata di Formaggio di Capra e Pere, Pizza Toscano, Salmone Grigliato made with Norwegian salmon and Chicken di Toscano. The beverage program remains aligned with the food menu, focusing on wine and cocktail pairings designed for Italian cuisine formats.

Desserts continue to be a key part of the brand’s average ticket strategy, with items like Tiramisu, Crème Brûlée and Kahlua Mousse contributing to incremental spends per table.

“As we open our fifth door in Mumbai, our focus remains on the Culinary Art and the delicate balance between heritage recipes and contemporary soul. This outlet is a celebration of a shared journey. It’s about more than just expanding a footprint; it’s about deepening our roots in a city that truly understands the value of a well-poured wine, a well-told story, and a kitchen that never cuts corners,” says Rohit Tokhi, COO.

The outlet maintains Toscano’s standardised interior format, with a mix of indoor and alfresco seating to cater to varied customer preferences. The layout and ambience are structured to support both high table turnover during peak retail hours and longer dwell times during evenings.

The expansion reflects a broader trend in India’s food service industry, where established brands are prioritising presence in premium malls to capture urban consumption demand. With this launch, Toscano continues to consolidate its position within the premium Italian dining category while leveraging location-driven growth in Mumbai’s competitive hospitality market.
