Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has launched the all-new ninth-generation Hilux in India, further strengthening its premium pickup portfolio. Built on Toyota's IMV platform, the new Hilux has been engineered to deliver rugged durability, dependable performance, and everyday usability, making it suitable for urban driving, heavy-duty applications, and off-road adventures.
Commenting on the launch, Masakazu Yoshimura, Chairman, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said the company remains committed to understanding evolving customer needs and delivering trusted mobility solutions. He added that the all-new Hilux reinforces Toyota's "Mobility for All" vision by offering a vehicle that combines reliability, capability, and long-term durability.
Tadashi Asazuma, Deputy Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said the all-new Hilux is tougher, smarter, and more expressive than its predecessor. He noted that the vehicle reflects the growing demand for products that combine utility with lifestyle appeal while continuing Toyota's legacy of quality and engineering excellence.
Powerful Engine and 4X4 Capability
The all-new Hilux is powered by a 2.8-litre BS6 Phase 2 diesel engine that produces 150 kW of power and 500 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. It also features an 80-litre fuel tank, enabling long-distance travel with enhanced efficiency.
For off-road performance, the pickup comes equipped with Toyota's 4X4 drivetrain, High (H4) and Low (L4) drive modes, Electronic Differential Lock, Downhill Assist Control (DAC), and a specially tuned suspension setup that delivers improved stability and control across challenging terrain.
Bold Design and Premium Cabin
Designed under Toyota's "Tough & Agile" philosophy, the new Hilux features a redesigned front bumper with piano black accents, LED headlamps, LED fog lamps, daytime running lights (DRLs), alloy wheels, electrically adjustable and retractable ORVMs, LED rear combination lamps, and a shark-fin antenna.
Inside the cabin, the pickup offers soft-touch upholstery, metallic accents, 60:40 split rear seats, tilt and telescopic steering, wireless charging, smart entry with push-button start, cruise control, PM2.5 air filtration, and multiple drive modes including Eco, Normal, and Sport.
Connected Technology and Safety
The new Hilux comes equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also features Toyota i-Connect, a multi-information TFT display, voice recognition, steering-mounted controls, and an eight-speaker audio system.
Safety features include seven SRS airbags, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), ABS with Brake Assist, Emergency Brake Signal, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a Panoramic View Monitor, front and rear parking sensors, and Toyota's GOA body structure for enhanced occupant protection.
