Yuma Energy has announced a partnership with the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) to set up battery swapping stations along Mumbai Metro Line 3, marking a major step toward integrating electric mobility with public transport infrastructure.
Under the agreement, 22 swapping stations will be installed across 9 metro stations, aimed at providing faster and more convenient battery replacement services for electric two-wheeler users, including gig workers, delivery partners, fleet operators, and daily commuters.
The initiative is part of MMRC’s Non-Fare Box Revenue (NFBR) model, which allows metro stations to host commercial and infrastructure services beyond ticketing. The project is expected to improve urban mobility efficiency while reducing downtime for EV users in Mumbai.
Yuma Energy already operates over 13,000 vehicles in Mumbai and manages more than 20,000 battery swaps daily. Mumbai Metro Line 3, also known as the Aqua Line, is a 33.5-km underground corridor connecting the north and south of the city and is considered one of Mumbai’s key transit routes.
