Mahipal Dhanda, Education Minister of Haryana, shared this information while responding to a question raised by a member during the Budget Session of the Haryana Legislative Assembly.

The Education Minister announced that the state government will soon launch the Chief Minister SHRI Schools scheme. This initiative is being developed on the lines of the central government’s PM SHRI Schools scheme, which aims to transform government schools into modern, well-equipped and high-quality centers of education. The minister reiterated that the announcement was made during the Budget Session of the Assembly in response to a member’s query.

Schools to Follow CBSE Curriculum

He stated that the proposed Chief Minister SHRI Schools will follow the curriculum and system of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). These schools will be equipped with modern teaching methodologies, digital classrooms, smart laboratories, libraries, sports facilities and trained teachers to ensure that students receive competitive and quality education.

25% Seats Reserved in Private Schools

The Education Minister further informed that the Education Department has reserved 25 percent of seats at the entry level in private schools for students belonging to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Disadvantaged Groups (DG). This provision has been implemented under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009 (RTE Act).

RTE Admission Statistics

According to the minister, during the previous academic session, a total of 14,127 applications were received for admission to private schools under the RTE Act. Out of these, 11,803 successful applicants were allotted seats in various private schools.

Focus on Improving Educational Quality

The state government aims to ensure quality, transparency, and equal opportunities in education through this new scheme. The Chief Minister SHRI Schools initiative is expected to significantly enhance access to modern and inclusive education for students in both rural and urban areas.

This initiative is being regarded as a major step toward strengthening the state’s education system and preparing students for national-level competitiveness.
