New Delhi: Sarvam AI, a pioneering organization shaping India’s indigenous artificial intelligence (AI), is emerging as a strong pillar in the country’s education, governance and digital services landscape. At the recently held India AI Impact Summit 2026, Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised Sarvam AI, calling it an exemplary model of India’s AI future. He noted that Sarvam AI is ensuring that technology reaches every citizen and contributes to the nation’s vision of a “Developed India.”
A Strong Step Towards Digital Self-Reliance
Indigenous AI models are crucial for India’s technological sovereignty, economic resilience and inclusive development. In this context, Sarvam AI has been selected among the 12 organizations under the Innovation Center pillar of the IndiaAI Mission. The organization has been provided financial and computing support amounting to ₹246.72 crore.
Sarvam AI is developing large language models (LLMs) and speech models tailored for Indian languages and public services, enabling voice-based interfaces, document processing and citizen-centric applications.

Bulbul (Text-to-Speech): Supports 11 Indian languages with 39 distinct voices
Saras (Speech-to-Text): Supports all 22 scheduled languages, telephony audio and
code-mixed speech
Vision (Document Understanding): Optimized for 22+ Indian languages, mixed scripts,
and handwritten text
