Abhishek Singh, Chief Executive Officer of the IndiaAI Mission, has been reassigned from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and appointed as Director General of the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The decision is part of a wider bureaucratic reshuffle cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, according to a Moneycontrol report.
A 1995-batch IAS officer, Singh also serves as Director General of the National Informatics Centre (NIC). He has been leading the government’s INR 10,000 crore IndiaAI initiative, while overseeing key digital infrastructure and e-governance platforms.
Singh will assume charge at the NTA under the Ministry of Education at a time when the agency faces scrutiny over the conduct of national-level examinations.
The move comes as India continues to push forward with large-scale adoption of artificial intelligence across sectors, marking a significant transition in leadership at a critical stage.
