NEP 2020 Vision to Get a Major Boost
Officials stated that the programme aligns with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which places strong emphasis on multilingual education and the preservation of India’s linguistic heritage. The Ministry of Education believes that exposure to multiple languages at an early age helps strengthen students’ learning abilities, creative thinking and social understanding.
Students to Participate in Interactive Activities
During the summer camp, students will take part in language learning sessions, storytelling activities, music and cultural exchange programmes, game-based learning and various interactive exercises. Through these activities, children will get an opportunity to understand the vocabulary, communication styles and cultural uniqueness of Indian languages beyond their mother tongue. The ministry aims to make language learning more engaging, practical and enjoyable instead of limiting it to textbooks.
Indian Sign Language (ISL) to Be Introduced for the First Time
One of the biggest highlights of the “Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camp 2026” is the inclusion of Indian Sign Language (ISL). For the first time, the Ministry of Education will introduce students to sign language through this programme. Experts believe this step will help promote inclusive education and develop sensitivity towards persons with disabilities among students. It will also expose children to alternative forms of communication.
“Learn • Play • Connect • Celebrate” Chosen as the Theme
The ministry has selected “Learn • Play • Connect • Celebrate” as the official theme of the programme. The objective is to help students learn new languages through fun activities, connect with cultures from different states and celebrate India’s diversity. Education experts say such experiences can also help improve students’ confidence, teamwork and communication skills.
