Chandigarh University (CU), in partnership with global US-based tech company Microsoft, has launched a new and upgraded version of its Online MCA Degree Program. The program will be implemented from the new academic session starting in July 2026.


The university aims to prepare students for jobs in the digital era by providing modern technical skills, industry exposure and international-level professional training.

The new program was launched during a special event held in Bengaluru. The event was attended by Joel Ganesan from Microsoft, Chandigarh University Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Raviraja N Seetharam, and CU Online Director Dr. Gurpreet Singh. According to the university, this initiative has been introduced keeping in mind the rapidly changing technology landscape and industry requirements.

Microsoft Certifications Included in the Online MCA Program

Chandigarh University has integrated Microsoft Certifications into its Online MCA Program so that students receive not only a degree but also industry-recognized technical certifications. The university believes this will significantly improve students’ employability and provide them with better career opportunities.

Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Raviraja N Seetharam said that the university is continuously taking new steps to provide learner-centric, globally relevant and industry-aligned education. He explained that the new Online MCA Program has been designed to create future-ready technology professionals by combining academic excellence with globally recognized industry certifications.

Special Focus on AI, Machine Learning and Cloud Computing

A total of six Microsoft Certifications have been included in the new MCA curriculum. These include Azure AI Fundamentals (AI-900), Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900), GitHub Foundation & Copilot, Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300), Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204), and Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104).

Through these certifications, students will gain in-depth and practical knowledge of modern technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Software Development, Data Analytics, and IT Administration. The university stated that demand for these skills is expected to grow rapidly in the technology industry in the coming years.

Focus on Increasing Students’ Employability and Industry Readiness

CU Online Director Dr. Gurpreet Singh said that Microsoft Certifications will strengthen students’ practical skills, global career opportunities, and industry readiness. He added that in today’s time, earning a degree alone is not enough and students must also have practical understanding of new technologies.

He said that the demand for technologies such as AI, Machine Learning and Cloud Computing is continuously increasing. In such a situation, this collaboration between Microsoft and Chandigarh University will train students according to industry needs and help them secure better job opportunities at both national and international levels.

Multiple Online Programs for Working Professionals and Remote Learners

The university stated that continuous learning has become essential to remain relevant in today’s workforce. Keeping this need in mind, Chandigarh University Online is offering several online programs for working professionals and remote learners.

Currently, the university offers a total of 10 online courses, including 3 undergraduate and 7 postgraduate programs. The UG programs include BBA, BCA, and BA in Journalism and Mass Communication, while PG programs include MCA, MBA, MSc Data Science, and MA courses.

Partnership with Internshala

Chandigarh University Online has also partnered with Internshala to provide students with better career opportunities and practical exposure. Internshala is one of India’s leading career platforms where millions of students access internships, jobs, online training and placement courses.
