A Major Boost to National Skill Development
The Skill Development Programme, being implemented under the CSIR-Integrated Skill Initiative (CSIR-ISI), is an important step towards strengthening scientific and technical skills across the country. Its primary objective is to develop a highly skilled workforce capable of meeting the current and future requirements of industries in the laboratory's core areas of expertise.
The programme at CSIR-NCL will not only provide theoretical knowledge but also offer practical training in advanced laboratories to students, researchers and industry professionals. The training will be conducted under the guidance of experienced scientists and experts, enabling participants to gain real-world experience and industry-relevant technical competencies.
Modern Training Facilities Under One Roof
The newly established Skill Development Centre has been designed as a fully integrated facility where all skill development and technical training activities at CSIR-NCL can be conducted from a single location. This integrated approach will make training programmes more organised, efficient and accessible.
The centre is equipped with several state-of-the-art facilities, including smart classrooms with interactive digital displays, a digital podium, a dedicated computer laboratory, an advanced digital conference room, analytical laboratories and a centralized Skill Development Programme (SDP) office. These modern facilities will allow participants to learn, experiment and gain practical exposure using the latest technologies.
Practical Training Aligned with Industry Needs
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Dr. Ashish Lele, Director of CSIR-NCL, said that the new Skill Development Centre will provide students and researchers with hands-on experience in operating advanced scientific instruments.
He highlighted that access to modern laboratories and cutting-edge technological resources will significantly enhance participants' industrial competencies, making them better prepared for employment. He further noted that the centre will also promote scientific research, innovation and the development of emerging technologies.
Strengthening Scientific Skill Development
Chief Guest Dr. Vinay Kumar appreciated the newly developed facility, stating that it closely aligns with the national vision of the CSIR-Integrated Skill Initiative. He emphasized that developing a highly skilled scientific and technical workforce is essential for India's future growth and the new centre will play a vital role in achieving that objective.
He added that the advanced training infrastructure will equip students and professionals with the latest scientific knowledge and practical skills, thereby contributing to the development of sustainable technological capabilities across the country.
A Stronger Bridge Between Academia and Industry
Experts believe that the new Skill Development Centre will serve as a strong bridge between educational institutions and industry. The training programmes conducted at the centre will prepare students according to real industry requirements, thereby significantly improving their employability.
In addition, the centre is expected to become an important platform for promoting scientific research, technological innovation and industry collaboration. Various skill development programmes, workshops and technical training courses to be organised in the coming years will help connect students, researchers and industry experts with emerging technologies and future career opportunities.
A New Dimension for Technical Education and Employment
Education experts believe that India's rapidly expanding science, research and manufacturing sectors require a highly skilled workforce. In this context, the state-of-the-art Skill Development Centre at CSIR-NCL will play a crucial role in preparing students for future careers by providing them with modern technical training, industry-oriented skills and valuable practical experience.
The initiative is expected to strengthen national programmes such as Skill India Mission and Atmanirbhar Bharat, while also giving a fresh impetus to science and technology-based education in the country.
