Delhi Approves ₹50 Crore for Go-Delhi Foundation to Boost Student Innovation & Research
The Go-Delhi Foundation will support students and researchers through prototyping facilities, laboratories, mentorship and incubation, while helping turn research into market-ready solutions.

The Delhi Cabinet has approved a corpus of Rs 50 crore for the Go-Delhi Foundation to support startups, young innovators and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and announced on October 18, 2026.

The foundation will be established as a not-for-profit company under Section 8 of the Companies Act, 2013, and will operate under the Delhi government’s Department of Industries. It will follow a hub-and-spoke model, leveraging existing infrastructure and partner institutions to strengthen innovation and entrepreneurship.

Delhi’s 21,000 Startups Create Opportunities for Student Innovation

According to the government, Delhi has nearly 21,000 startups recognised by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT). The foundation aims to connect startups with researchers, educational institutions, investors and industry partners.

The initiative will provide students, researchers and early-stage entrepreneurs access to product engineering and prototyping facilities, laboratories, testing services, technical guidance, mentorship and incubation support. These resources are expected to help innovators develop ideas, test products and move towards commercial applications.

Research, Prototyping and Incubation to Get Support

The foundation will help students and researchers develop prototypes, protect their intellectual property and commercialise research. By providing access to technical facilities and expert guidance, it aims to bridge the gap between research and practical applications.

The initiative could also strengthen collaboration between educational institutions, researchers, startups and industry partners, creating opportunities to develop solutions that address real-world challenges.

Government Pilot Projects to Help Test Startup Solutions

The foundation will connect startups with government departments seeking technology-based solutions to operational challenges. Through pilot projects, startups will be able to test their solutions in practical settings. Successful solutions could be considered for wider adoption by the government.

This approach is expected to give innovators opportunities to demonstrate their technologies while enabling government departments to explore new solutions.

Eligibility and Application Details Awaited

The government has not yet announced the eligibility criteria, application procedures, programme timelines or how the Rs 50 crore corpus will be allocated. Details about partner institutions and the selection process for government pilot projects are also awaited.

Once these details are announced, students, researchers, startups and MSMEs will be able to better understand the process for accessing the foundation’s facilities and support programmes.
