Under the budget, around 1.3 lakh girl students studying in Class 9 will be provided free bicycles to ease their commute to school with an allocation of ₹90 crore. Free Laptops for Meritorious Students
To promote digital education, the government has announced free laptops for meritorious Class 10 students. A budget of ₹10 crore has been allocated for this initiative, aimed at making students technologically saksham and better prepared for future opportunities.
₹19,148 Crore Investment in Education Sector
The Delhi government has allocated approximately ₹19,148 crore for the education sector, highlighting its priority. This includes ₹200 crore for the construction of new school buildings and ₹275 crore for expansion and infrastructure improvement. Over the past year, 7,000 smart classrooms have been developed and the target for the coming year is to equip 8,777 more classrooms with smart boards, boosting digital and interactive learning.
The government has also indicated that AI-based learning tools, digital content and skill-based education will be further promoted in the coming years.
‘Anmol Yojana’ for Free Newborn Health Screening
In the healthcare sector, the government has introduced the ‘Anmol Yojana,’ under which every newborn in Delhi hospitals will receive 56 types of medical tests free of cost. A budget of ₹25 crore has been allocated for this scheme. Additionally, digital blood bank systems and real-time ICU and ventilator tracking will be developed to improve emergency healthcare services.
First Sainik School and New Ayushman Centers in Delhi
The government has announced the establishment of Delhi’s first Sainik School, which will open new career pathways for students in the defense sector. Furthermore, 650 new Ayushman centers will be set up across the city to strengthen primary healthcare services.
Major Spending on Transport and Basic Infrastructure
The transport sector has received the largest share in the budget. Key initiatives include expansion of the metro network, increasing the number of electric buses and continuing the free bus travel scheme. The government also stated that 100% electricity coverage and 93.5% piped water access have been achieved, along with a steady increase in green areas across the city.
