Greaves Electric Mobility Limited (GEML), a subsidiary of Greaves Cotton Limited, announced the launch of its flagship electric scooter ‘Ampere Nexus’ in Nepal on February 26, 2026. The company entered the Nepalese market in partnership with local distributor STC Auto Solution Private Limited.
According to the company, the scooter has demonstrated strong performance in challenging terrains in India. It holds a record from the Asia Book of Records for navigating the 70 hairpin bends of Kolli Hills in Tamil Nadu. Its performance at Shipki La Pass, located at an altitude of 13,200 feet, was cited as proof of its suitability for Nepal’s geography.
GEML’s Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer Vikas Singh said Nepal’s mountainous terrain and expanding EV infrastructure are driving demand for vehicles focused on durability and range reliability. He described the launch as aligned with the country’s shift toward cleaner transportation.
The Ampere Nexus features a 7-inch TFT touchscreen, turn-by-turn navigation via the Nex.io platform, call connectivity, real-time vehicle monitoring, and the Ampere Connect Companion app for battery health tracking. It is powered by an LFP battery and is designed to handle both urban traffic and steep inclines.
The company plans to expand into additional markets across Nepal, though no specific timeline has been announced. GEML operates manufacturing facilities in Hyderabad, Noida, and Ranipet, supported by around 400 dealer touchpoints across India.
The company has also filed a draft red herring prospectus with SEBI for an initial public offering of its equity shares, subject to regulatory approvals and market conditions.
