Jagadguru Kripalu University (JKU), established in Cuttack district of Odisha was inaugurated by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, on August 3, 2026. The university aims to integrate India's ancient spiritual traditions with modern higher education, research and skill-based learning. The institution will focus equally on students' intellectual, ethical and spiritual development.
The university features modern infrastructure, a green campus and state-of-the-art facilities. President Calls Value-Based Education the Foundation of Viksit Bharat
Addressing the inaugural ceremony, President Droupadi Murmu said that India's young population is the country's greatest strength, and higher education institutions have the responsibility to prepare students for the future through value-based education, research, innovation and entrepreneurship. She emphasized that universities will play a vital role in achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
The President stated that the true purpose of education is fulfilled only when knowledge is used for the service of humanity, society and the nation. She urged universities to nurture responsible citizens with integrity, discipline, sensitivity and a strong sense of national commitment. Referring to Odisha's rich cultural and spiritual heritage, she expressed confidence that Jagadguru Kripalu University would carry this legacy forward and contribute significantly to the development of society and the nation.
Modern Education Model Aligned with NEP 2020
The university's academic framework has been designed in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Students will benefit from interdisciplinary education, skill-based learning, personalized learning pathways and national as well as international credit mobility.
Through industry-integrated curricula, students will gain practical exposure via real-world projects, mentorship from industry experts, capstone projects and career-oriented training. The university will also offer globally recognized certifications and micro-credentials in emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, FinTech, Cloud Computing and Data Science, helping students strengthen their employability and competitive skills.
Three Specialized Schools for Technology, Management and Healthcare
The university has established JK Institute of Technology (JKIT), JK Institute of Management Studies (JKIMS) and JK Institute of Healthcare & Life Science. JKIT will offer future-focused programs in Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Cloud Computing, Animation & VFX and Sustainable Technologies. JKIMS will provide specialized management education in Business Analytics, FinTech, E-commerce and Digital Strategy. Meanwhile, the Healthcare & Life Science institute will offer programs in Naturopathy & Yogic Sciences, Paramedical Sciences, Sports Science, Athlete Care and Pharmaceutical Sciences. According to the university, all programs are aligned with NEP 2020, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and industry requirements, incorporating live projects, industry collaboration and research-driven pedagogy.
Focus on Industry Partnerships, Global Certifications and Startup Ecosystem
To prepare students for the evolving job market, the university has adopted an industry-integrated education model. Courses will be developed in collaboration with industry experts, while students will benefit from real-world projects, capstone assignments, corporate mentorship and guidance from international visiting faculty. The university will also provide NSQF-aligned micro-credentials, certifications recognized by Sector Skill Councils (SSC) and globally relevant certifications in AI/ML, Cybersecurity, FinTech and Cloud Computing. Additionally, the campus will feature startup incubation centres, seed funding support, startup labs and investor networking platforms, enabling students to develop and launch their ventures while pursuing their degrees.

According to the university, students will have access to paid internships and apprenticeships from the third year onward, allowing them to gain practical industry experience. Placement-integrated academics, corporate mentorship and career-focused training programs will further strengthen students' professional readiness.
