Major Initiative for Students and Researchers: Ministry of Ayush Signs Agreement with Bhashini
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen multilingual digital services.

A major step has been taken towards making Ayush education, research and digital healthcare services available in all major Indian languages. The Ministry of Ayush and the Digital India Bhashini Division (DIBD) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen multilingual digital services.

The initiative aims to use AI-powered language technologies to make Ayush knowledge and services accessible to people across the country in their own languages.

Students to Access Ayush Knowledge in Their Native Languages

Under this agreement, digital content related to Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha, Homoeopathy, Naturopathy and Sowa-Rigpa will be made available in all 22 scheduled Indian languages.

Experts believe this will help students, researchers, doctors, and healthcare workers access educational and research material in their mother tongues. It is also expected to strengthen Ayush education in regional languages.

AI Technology to Simplify Translation and Transcription

According to the Ministry of Ayush, AI-powered technologies from the Bhashini platform will be integrated into Ayush Grid portals, mobile applications and digital tools. This will enable faster translation, transcription, and voice-based services related to Ayush. As a result, people from different linguistic regions of India will find it easier to access Ayush services.

Integration Under the “Bhashini Rajyam” Initiative

The partnership has been launched under the “Bhashini Rajyam – A Bhashini Collaborative Programme.” Its objective is to integrate India’s National Language Digital Public Infrastructure, the Bhashini platform with the Ministry of Ayush’s digital ecosystem.

The Ministry of Ayush is already working on healthcare, research, capacity building, medicine administration and digital health services through the “Ayush Grid” initiative. Now, efforts will be accelerated to make these services multilingual.

Boost to Research and Health Technology

The initiative will not only focus on translation but also on developing specialised multilingual terminology systems for the Ayush sector. This will help standardise technical Ayush terms across different Indian languages. In addition, work will be carried out on AI-based health models, voice-enabled systems and smart healthcare technologies for the future. Experts believe this could create new opportunities in health technology and research.

Doctors and Patients Will Communicate in Their Preferred Languages

During the programme, the Digital India Bhashini Division showcased several AI-based demonstrations. These included AI-enabled doctor-patient prescription generation systems, voice-based CV creation, meeting transcription tools and technologies for digitising Indian manuscripts.

Experts say that in the future, patients may be able to communicate with doctors in their own languages, while AI systems generate digital prescriptions in the same language. This could significantly improve healthcare accessibility in rural and regional areas.

Greater Accessibility for Education and Research

Ayush Secretary Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha stated that Ayush systems contain India’s vast traditional knowledge, and making it accessible in every Indian language is extremely important. He added that this collaboration will strengthen multilingual AI capabilities and help build future-ready digital systems that can support citizens beyond language barriers.

A Big Step Towards Inclusive Digital Healthcare

Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, Dr. Kavita Jain, said the initiative would strengthen inclusive healthcare and citizen-centric digital services. According to her, AI-based multilingual technologies can make healthcare services more accessible and effective at the grassroots level.

Meanwhile, Amitabh Nag, CEO of the Digital India Bhashini Division, said language-inclusive AI systems are essential to ensure equal access to digital public services.

Benefits for Students, Researchers and Startups

Experts believe this initiative will go beyond the healthcare sector and also promote Ayush education, health research, digital learning and AI-based startups. In the coming years, students will be able to study research material in their own languages, work on health data and explore new opportunities to develop AI models based on Indian languages.
