US-based voice AI unicorn Wispr Flow has added Peak XV Partners, Together Fund and Activate to its investor base through its USD 280 million Series B funding round led by Menlo Ventures.
The round valued the company at USD 2 billion. Existing and new investors, including Notable Capital, NEA, Neo Ventures, 8VC, MVP Ventures, Acrew, Forerunner, Goodwater and PLUS Capital, also participated.
Founded in 2021 by Tanay Kothari and Sahaj Garg, Wispr Flow develops AI-powered speech-to-text software. The San Francisco-based startup has partnered with hardware makers to integrate its dictation tools and is expanding into workplace applications.
The company has also launched Canto, its proprietary speech-to-text model designed for conversations recorded in noisy environments. Wispr Flow expects the model to reduce its word error rate from more than 30% to 5-10%.
For Together Fund, the investment marks Peak XV’s continued expansion into US-based AI startups. The firm has previously backed Vapi, Mem0, Hyperbound and PostHog and opened a San Francisco office after separating from Sequoia Capital in 2023.
In a blog post the firm said it had been looking to work with Wispr Flow’s founders for the past two years and wanted exposure to the company’s transition from consumer to enterprise applications.
