Petcare Startup Vetic Bags USD 40 Mn in Bessemer-led Round

Vetic, a pet healthcare platform, has raised USD 40 million in a funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners (BVP) with participation from existing investors Greenoaks Capital, Lachy Groom and JSW Family Office. Founded in 2022 by Gaurav Ajmera, Vetic offers over 65 clinics across 11 cities, 15 round-the-clock emergency facilities, vet at home services, e-pharmacy and pet supplies through a single connected platform.

The company says it has a network of over 250 veterinarians delivering care across in-clinic OPD, advanced diagnostics, and complex surgeries. Vetic has also expanded into vet at home services, pet insurance and wellness plans, as well as an e-pharmacy delivering 300+ medicines across 700+ pincodes in 60 minutes and quick commerce for 600+ pet products.

Vetic currently has over 60,000 subscribed members.

The company says it will deploy funds for further scaling its clinic network and veterinary team (in-clinic, home, and virtual care) to double the current capacity. Near-term plans include rolling out of “Vet at Home” services nationally within two quarters; deepening pet insurance and wellness plan offerings; and investing significantly in technology and AI.

Before this round, the startup scooped up INR 224 crore or $26 million in a round led by Bessemer Ventures with the participation of Lachy Groom’s firm LGF3, Acorn and JSW Ventures.

According to an IBEF report, India’s pet care industry was worth USD 3.6 billion in CY24 and is projected to be worth USD 24.8 billion in another six years. The growth is driven by factors like increased consumer spending on quality pet food, veterinary services, and personal grooming among others.

Apart from Vetic, a bunch of petcare startups have raised fundings in the last few years. For instance, Supertails raised USD 30 million in a funding round led by Venturi Partners earlier this year. Another notable in the petcare industry is Heads Up For Tails, which according to Tracxn, has raised nearly USD 75 million across five rounds.
