India’s Ministry of Education organised a special roadshow in Paris for ‘Bharat Innovates 2026’ to promote Indian startups, research and higher education innovation globally.

The main objective of the roadshow was to connect Indian deep-tech startups, universities and research institutions with global investors, corporate companies and innovation partners from around the world.

Initiative to Connect with Global Investors

‘Bharat Innovates 2026’ will be organised from June 14 to 16, 2026 at Palais des Expositions in Nice, France.
The objective of the programme is to showcase India’s top 100 deep-tech innovations before global investors, corporate companies and international partners.

Meanwhile, the roadshow organised in Paris is being seen as an important step towards generating global investor interest and ensuring wider participation ahead of the main event in Nice.

Through this initiative, the government aims to provide Indian students, researchers, startups and technology institutions with new opportunities for global investment and research collaboration. The programme is also being considered a major step towards giving India’s higher education and innovation ecosystem an international platform.

Global Institutions and Experts Gathered at the Paris Roadshow

More than 50 representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Embassy of India in Paris, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and various international institutions participated in the roadshow held ahead of the main event.

Major French innovation networks such as ‘La French Tech’ and ‘VivaTech’, along with several prestigious academic and research institutions, also took part in the programme.

Senior representatives from institutions including ESCP Business School, ESSEC France, INRIA, École Normale Supérieure, and Agence Française de Développement attended the event. Representatives from the Indo-French Chamber of Commerce, industry bodies, startup networks, legal advisors and corporate organisations were also present.

Students and Startups to Get Global Opportunities

The roadshow aimed to inform potential investors and partners about the objectives, investment opportunities and innovation sectors associated with ‘Bharat Innovates 2026’.

K.M. Prafullachandra Sharma, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Education, said that the initiative would strengthen India-France strategic cooperation while helping India’s education and innovation ecosystem grow globally.

Another Joint Secretary, Govind Jaiswal, delivered a presentation outlining opportunities for French and international investors to engage with India’s rapidly growing startup and innovation ecosystem.

Focus on 13 Advanced Technology Sectors

During the event, it was highlighted that ‘Bharat Innovates 2026’ will focus on 13 emerging and advanced technology sectors. These include advanced computing, semiconductors, next-generation communication, advanced materials, biotechnology, space technology, defence, manufacturing and Industry 4.0.

Experts believe these sectors will create new global career and research opportunities for students, researchers and startups.

Direct Connection Between Investors and Startups

‘Bharat Innovates 2026’ has been designed as an investor-centric platform. The event will feature one-to-one matchmaking sessions, sector-specific discussions and startup showcases.

This will allow Indian startups and universities to directly connect with global investors and industry leaders.

Partnership Discussions During Interactive Q&A Session

The roadshow concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session. Participants interacted directly with the Indian delegation and discussed potential partnerships in areas such as research, innovation, investment and market access.

The strong participation of investors, corporate companies, technology firms, universities and Indo-French business organisations reflected the growing global interest in ‘Bharat Innovates 2026’.

Global Platform for India’s Education and Innovation Ecosystem

The ‘Bharat Innovates’ initiative was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 17, 2026, during the inauguration of the “India-France Year of Innovation” in the presence of the President of France.

The government aims to use this initiative to take innovations from Indian universities and research institutions 'from lab to market' and 'from India to the world.'

According to experts, the programme can play a major role in providing Indian students, researchers and startups with new opportunities in international education, research collaboration and global investment.
